National Night Out Block Party
Every year since 1984, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) hosts a National Night Out in communities and cities across America. This year, the City of Texarkana, Texas will partner with proactive community members like you to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018.
In order to have a successful celebration that fosters community safety and neighborhood cohesion, we are counting on neighborhood leaders like you to organize your own National Night Out Block Party. We would like to encourage you to talk to your neighbors, plan a get-together, and let the city know how we can participate. The time to start planning is now!
Not only will a National Night Out Block Party enable you to meet your neighbors and get to know them better, but it will start the relationships you need to keep your family, friends, homes and neighborhood safe. This event could be the catalyst to creating a neighborhood watch, or an emergency contact list. If nothing else, this event could be a good time to get together, have a potluck, and play some backyard games. We hope you will consider organizing a National Night Out Block Party. In fact, we are so hopeful that we have created a National Night Out Block Party toolkit, with all the items and lists you will need to get started.
It is a high honor to serve you as mayor of this great city, and now I’m asking you to join me as we celebrate the 33rd Annual National Night Out right here in Texarkana, Texas. If you need more information, or would like help registering your block party with the City of Texarkana, Texas, please call us at (903) 798-3116.
