Where do I pay my water bill?Answer
Several options are available for paying your water bill.
- The Utility provides, at no cost to the customer, an auto draft feature. This allows your monthly bill to be drafted from your checking account without the need of mailing or going to our other locations to pay your bill.
- You can pay your bill at our main office located at 801 Wood Street, Texarkana, Texas. Our drive thru window is open Monday thru Friday 7:30 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Our lobby is open from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M.
- We have several pay stations that you can use to pay your bill:

What determines the amount of my water bill?Answer
Your water bill is made up of three parts, water, sewer and refuse collection. Your water usage is recorded on your individual meter, which is read monthly. See water and sewer rates. For further information call the water office at 903.575.4000.
Does the city add fluoride to the water?Answer
No, the City does not add fluoride to our treated water at this time. Small amounts of naturally occurring fluoride have been found in the City's water sources: Lake Wright Patman: less than 0.1mg/1 and Lake Millwood: less than 0.2 mg/1
Is our water hard and what is the hardness?Answer
Our water hardness averages 83 mg/1. Hardness between 61 mg/L and 150 mg/1 is considered moderately hard.
Where does the water we use come from?Answer
Our water in Texarkana comes from two water sources: Lake Wright Patman and Lake Millwood.
Is the water tested?Answer
Absolutely. Water treatment staff tests for quality control 24 hours/day. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) also test on a regular basis. What is the sodium content of the water?Answer
The sodium content of our water averages about 12 mg/1. which is considered very low.
If my sewer stops up should I call a plumber or the city first?Answer
We always recommend calling Texarkana Water Utilities first at 903.798.3880 or after 5:00 p. m. or weekends call 903.798.3850. The Operations Division will dispatch a truck to check the sewer main for any stoppages. TWU will clean the line whether or not any stoppages are evident. The customer will then be contacted and notified of all findings.
How do I obtain a new or additional water or sewer tap and what do they cost?Answer
Visit our main office at 801 Wood Street, Texarkana, Texas. You will obtain a water and sewer availability sheet, set up a new account, and pay a meter charge.Charges for water meters are as follows:
- 5/8" - $75.00
- 1" - $115.00
- 2" - $266.00
Irrigation meters must be 1" or larger in order to connect to an irrigation system.
Customers will be given a list of approved contractors they may use to install the meter set. Permits are required from Texarkana Water Utilities and also from the City of Texarkana, Texas, Inspection Division. Their phone number is 903.798.3912.
After final inspections are complete, a meter will be installed.
Can I install a lawn sprinkler system at my residence?Answer
Yes. Proper permits must be obtained from Public Works Inspection and a backflow prevention device must be inspected and approved by Texarkana Water Utilities Environmental Division. You may contact Patrick Reed at 903.798.3870.
The homeowner cannot connect to the public water supply. It must be done by a licensed plumber or licensed irrigator installer with an approved backflow assembly.
