The Gazette posted about all the houses which need torn down in the city, extreme cost is associated with this as well as decreased neighborhood values and potential upswings in criminal activity. How could we go about re-writing the charter so that when a house becomes abandoned, no utilities to the home for a period of time, or that it is borded up but no permit for construction, basically being left to deteriorate, that the city forces a sell of the property... I look in the 1400/1500 blocks of Hazel street at the number of houses up for sell all thru Highland park. houses being boarded shut and that is how the houses that need torn down now began. people dont know what to do with the houses and dont realize the will be vandalized and deteoriate while vacant. we need to stop the process before it begins...

We can have a Youth Day;Vision Board day to help Inspire our Youths to make Positive decisions. Let them make a Vision Board. Some youths do not know what they want to be in the Future or which direction to go. Some of our Youths do not have Mentors or Positive Role Models, or go to Church. It would be great to bring them together to create their own Vision Boards and let them create a song to be recorded that would Inspire other Youths to stop the Violence and be Positive. Life is what you make of it, what you want from it..Decisions are REAL, once you do them. The profit from the Song can be used to help Youths for College, or future Youth Days Activities.

I almost forget I am in Texarkana when I travel on North Richmond Road. It is so smooth compared to the huge bump in the road at the intersection of Richmond and Robinson Road. Maybe road crews and city official never have to travel this section of Richmond. I think they should and experience the sudden rise and fall in the street that give your a car an incredible jolt each time you cross it at any speed.

There are numerous families who live outside of the city limits that would find it just as beneficial to have access to a free public library without having to pay a yearly fee. Instead of requiring each person/child who wants a library card that lives outside the city limits but yet has Texarkana, TX on their drivers license and address labels to pay yearly fee of $20 right then, ask for donations. I would love to be able to check out books for my son and me, but I either cannot remember to pay that yearly fee or just don't have the money at the time. Why should I be punished for living too far away from a public library, the only one in 50 miles. If public schools that are not within Texarkana city limits are part of Texarkana ISD, then why can't people who live outside of Texarkana city limits be able to get a library card too. Just a thought that could turn into more. You never know.

Chess Club Saturdays
Chess Club Saturdays will be publicly held chess meets for people of all ages and skill levels.
The goals of the meets include entertainment and community education.
The event(s) will be organized and supported by community members.
Preferable locations include school cafeterias, public library meeting rooms and churches.

Between I-30 and Wal-Mart on County Ave, there are many disabled and wheel chair users that travel that road on foot or wheel chair. I think for their safety and any automobile travelers, there should be a sidewalk built at that location to accommodate the foot traffic. There is a big hill right in the middle of that area and so safe view of all pedestrians is impossible. Not only will this improve the safety of our neighbors, but promote a sense of pride among them and promote a clean neighborhood. You can drive up and down that road at any given hour and see lots of trash and sometimes entire left over paper goods that appears to be enough to support a meal that would feed a large family. I would like to hear other’s opinions about the neighborhood. Please help make our neighborhoods nice.

As you know social media is a big part in this generations life, and since we have snapchat and instagram we meet so many new people who live in the same city. But for most of us it could be kind or hard to get together because of the different school schedules. Adding sidewalks that lead to critical areas of the city (i.e. medical office, rehab centers, grocery stores, etc.) would greatly reduce this problem and increase overall safety.

I work in the Max Alley Business behind the Sanctuary and it's very hard to get turned in there at times. Please put in a light at the intersection of Galleria Oaks and Richmond Rd. I and my coworkers have almost had wrecks there. People literally try to run over you there. I work in the Max Alley Business behind the Sanctuary and it's very hard to get turned in there at times. People wanting to turn the other way start getting in the turning lane on your side making you have to get in the other lane and risk getting hit. Please we beg you to do this. Thank you.
